If you have not heard the term brackish water then you are in for a fishing treat in Southwest Florida. Both salt and freshwater species live in this
mixture of salt fresh water. In a matter of minutes you can be fishing the brackish waters, the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, or one of the many
rivers for an unbelievable variety of species.
Fishing in the gulf is much different than fresh water fishing, because you need to take into consideration the tidal patterns and the light of the moon
when going after certain fish. Tides can change as many as 4 times per day. |

At any moment in the Gulf, you can become wide-awake with a huge strike from your unknown dinner guest. Three very popular fighters are the Tarpon,
Grouper, and Snook. Boca Grande, in Lee County, each year hosts the Tarpon World Championship with a purse in excess of $100,000 dollars.
Only an hour drive from the SW Florida coast is Lake Okeechobee, one of the largest freshwater lakes in the US and known for it's outstanding bass and
freshwater fishing.
